Peter Voisey

A native of Ottawa, Peter Voisey earned a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto in 1985, where he studied oboe and English horn with Melvin Berman.

Peter Voisey has performed with many Canadian orchestras including the Canadian Opera Company, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Orchestra London, the Thunder Bay Symphony and Symphony New Brunswick. He held the position of second oboe and solo English horn with the Windsor Symphony for ten seasons. He has also appeared as soloist with the Windsor Symphony, the Valley Festival (Ottawa area), the North Bay Symphony and the Etobicoke Symphony.

Peter’s work in the Toronto commercial music scene has included many studio recordings for radio, television and film. He is a seasoned performer of musical theatre, including the Toronto productions of “The Producers”, “Crazy for You”, “Show Boat” and “Napoleon”. He especially enjoys performing as multi instrumentalist on oboes, saxophones, clarinets, flutes and recorders. His talents have also taken him on tour with North American productions, and onstage with the orchestras of such noted performers as Placido Domingo, Joan Sutherland, Richard Harris, and Roger Hodgson.

As well as being an active freelance musician, Peter teaches privately and holds clinics in the Toronto area. He also adjudicates recitals and exams at the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto. In May of 2006, Peter was the senior woodwind adjudicator of the New Brunswick Competitive Music Festival in Saint John.
